History Walks 2024

Dozens of Ithacan locals, Ithacans from abroad, and travellers alike, joined us on 7 separate History Walks during June, July, and August 2024 to learn more about Ithaca’s ancient, mediaeval and modern heritage.

We explored some of Ithaca’s most beautiful and important historical sites: the ancient citadel at Aetos, the ‘School of Homer’ site, Old Anogi, and Palaiochora.

Our walks are offered free, as an informal opportunity for all to learn more about Ithaca’s history while enjoying the island’s natural beauty.

Walkers had the opportunity to buy books, including George Paxinos’s Passage to Ithaca, Jonathan Brown’s In Search of Homeric Ithaca, and the BIHS vol. 1. Our tote bags were also a hit!

Thanks to those walkers who made generous donations to help us further promote the heritage of Ithaca!

More walks are being planned… Stay tuned.
